Blagoevgrad

Blagoevgrad city is known as the economic and cultural centre of south western Bulgaria. Located in the valley of the Struma River at the foot of the Rila and Pirin Mountains. Approx 100 km from the capital Sofia and 53km to the northwest of Razlog.

It is situated in part of the region which is known for its abundant natural resources including its beneficial mineral waters making it a popular spa resort.

The Pirin National Park in the region is of worldwide importance as the beautiful and wild nature of its landscape has been kept untouched making it rich in flora and fauna.

Blagoevgrad is also a starting point for a visits to the earthen Pyramids of Stob, and the old fortresses by the village of Klisura, Selishte, Gabrovo and Tzerovo.
