Kuystendil

The town of Kuystendil is situated in the most Western part of Bulgaria along the two banks of the Banska River and lies at the foot of the Hissarlaka Hill on the Northern slopes of the Ossogovo mountain. 90 km southwest of the capital Sofia, 70 km northwest of Blagoevgrad and 22km northeast of the border with Macedonia.

Kuystendil and the surrounding area is well known for growing fruits mainly cherries, plums and apples. With the warm climate and the curative properties of the mineral water from the numerous springs (heated to 71-73c) makes this town a popular spa area. There are several spas, 3 open-air swimming pools, a sanatorium and recreation facilities.

As well as its wealth of cultural and historical heritage the town attracts many foreign visitors.
