Rousse
Rousse is the largest town situated on the Danube river in north eastern Bulgaria approx 300 km from the capital Sofia and approx 203 km from Varna. Also called a 'Little Vienna' due to its unique ancient architecture.
Almost 200 buildings in Rousse are considered important to the architectural heritage of Bulgaria as the town attracted a lot of European architects, artists and writers in the 19th century. Some of the examples are, The Dohodno building which was built in 1902 in a German classical style and the Monument of Freedom (1908) by the Florentine architect and sculptor Arnoldo Zocci.
As well as the many museums Rousse has a lively night life with clubs and restaurants and hosts annual music concerts to suit all tastes.
