Vidin

Vidin town is located in the farthest northwest corner of Bulgaria and situated on the bank of the Danube river. 199km northwest from the capital Sofia and 250km from the nearest International airport it also borders Romania.

A popular tourist destination for wine tasting trips and organised trips down the Danube. Also popular with tourists is the site of the Baba Vida Fortress and museum dating back to the 10th century and has recently been staging open air theatre performances which form part of the tour of the castle. A large park with beaches and recreation areas is located along the river bank.

There are also plans to build a shopping mall which should be completed early 2008.
